About the Course

The COVID-19 pandemic is disrupting so many parts of our lives, and our clinical practices are not immune to these changes. We are finding ourselves scrambling to figure out how to meet our clients’ needs while still practicing necessary self-quarantining and social distancing that is necessary to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Many of the restrictions and rules in providing teletherapy have been loosened, but it is still our prerogative to provide EMDR therapy via teletherapy in the most ethical way possible. We will discuss the EMDRIA guidelines in providing teletherapy, transitioning to teletherapy, and the importance of obtaining consent for teletherapy. We will also discuss the implications of not meeting face-to-face with clients while still engaging in EMDR therapy as well as destabilization considerations due to the COVID-19 pandemic and how to set this up as a target. Different resourcing techniques and safety planning will be addressed as well as different ways to implement dual attention stimulus.

This is a pre-recorded webinar.

2. Identify ethical considerations for fast transitions to telehealth during a time of crisis
