About the Course
This presentation will share strategies for adapting EMDR Therapy Standard Protocol for use with children who have experienced adverse life experiences. Adaptations to the 8-Phase Standard Protocol include completing comprehensive history taking, teaching specific preparation strategies, and integrating creative, child-focused interventions to implement during desensitization through re-evaluation phases. Specific strategies will include: psychoeducation about trauma response and EMDR therapy, preparation skills, attachment exercises, and art and play-based interventions. Using the tenets of the Adaptive Information Processing model, this workshop will explore strategies to identify and resolve unprocessed information that is dysfunctionally stored as a result of trauma.
